Beca Digital in Canterbury, NZ, is seeking a senior GIS leader to guide the delivery of geospatial and digital projects for diverse clients. You will act as a job or project manager, plan, coordinate and deliver quality outcomes, and communicate progress and risks clearly.
You will mentor junior staff, build client relationships and contribute to business development, while applying GIS principles across data capture, analysis, modelling, cartography and app development.
You will have a senior role leading the delivery of GIS services across a diverse portfolio of geospatial and digital projects, acting as a job or project manager to plan, coordinate and deliver quality outcomes for clients. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will translate business challenges into practical geospatial solutions, while providing clear communication on project progress, risks and decisions.
You will build strong client relationships, contribute to business development, and identify opportunities to grow our GIS services. As a senior member of the team, you will mentor junior staff and help develop geospatial capability across the business. You will enjoy being the person who others come to for guidance and advice, with the ability to build out a clients’ understanding of how a geospatial approach can add value to a project.
Using your expertise in GIS principles and spatial technologies, you will deliver solutions across data capture, analysis, modelling, cartography and application development. Applying your project delivery, scoping, problem solving and creative skills to develop geospatial methodologies and integrate these into digital platforms, will be a key aspect of the role. Experience with ESRI technologies (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro) and FME will be highly regarded.
This is a 12-month fixed-term role providing parental leave cover. While we are advertising for a full-time role, we also welcome part-time expressions of interest.
You will be someone who enjoys combining your project delivery skills with your technical subject matter expertise to make things happen for clients. You will bring strong geospatial capability, a consulting mindset, and the confidence to lead project delivery while building trusted relationships with clients, project teams and internal stakeholders.
You will enjoy variety, with the ability to work across different projects, industries and disciplines, and you will be comfortable moving between project management, client conversations, technical delivery, , and team mentorship. You will be curious, collaborative and practical in your approach, with the ability to ask the right questions, understand client problems, and shape solutions that are efficient, achievable and aligned to project outcomes.
