Job summary

Optimal is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join a cross-functional team delivering next-gen user research tools. You will own features end-to-end, from architecture through UI finesse, shaping the project with product and design, and collaborating with tech leads to move ideas to market quickly.

You’ll mentor others, set technical direction, and impact a product used by teams globally. This role offers remote-first flexibility with NZ/Australia options.

Qualifications

• Senior-level full-stack engineering experience shipping product across the stack (frontend and backend).
• Strong React expertise with UI craftsmanship and performance.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails and AWS, plus collaborative product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects end-to-end from idea to delivery.
• Shape project direction with product and design teams.
• Design, build and ship new research features that simplify complex tasks.
• Move across the full stack from frontend UX to backend services on AWS.
• Mentor teammates and raise the craft bar within the team.
