Job summary

A multidisciplinary consultancy in Auckland seeks a CPEng Fire Engineer for a client-facing role with real project ownership. You will deliver fire safety designs, collaborate with clients, and mentor junior engineers. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of fire engineering experience and strong communication skills. This position offers a competitive salary of $180,000 - $200,000 per annum.

With continued project growth, they’re looking for a CPEng Fire Engineer ready to step into a more autonomous, client facing role with potential to grow into team leadership and mentorship.

The Role

This role offers real project ownership and regular interaction with clients, consultants, and councils. You’ll be involved in performance-based fire design, site visits, and regulatory liaison, all while contributing to a positive, social team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver fire safety strategies and performance-based designs for commercial buildings
  • Attend project meetings and liaise with clients, architects, and authorities
  • Prepare technical documentation and fire reports for council submission
  • Contribute to mentoring junior engineers and developing internal capability
  • Represent the business professionally across the full project lifecycle
What We’re Looking For
  • CPEng (Fire Engineering) or already eligible
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fire engineering (local NZ experience preferred)
  • Strong communication skills – confident working directly with clients and teams
  • Practical experience with NZBC C/VM2 and performance-based design
  • A proactive mindset and desire to be involved in both technical and people-facing work
