Job summary

Waikato Waters Ltd is seeking a qualified accountant to strengthen our finance function. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will manage financial accounting, reporting and audit deliverables, ensuring accurate statutory reporting and robust controls across the organisation.

You will lead the general ledger, month-end and year-end close, oversee balance sheet integrity and support reliable Board-level reporting. Hybrid working is available where the role allows.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with post-qualification experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and statutory reporting.
• Experience managing general ledger, month-end and year-end processes.
• ERP experience: SAP, NetSuite or Infor.
• Systems Accountant experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes with strong controls.
• Oversee balance sheet, reconciliations, fixed asset accounting and disposals.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax legislation and internal policies.
• Deliver reliable board and management reporting and advise on accounting treatments.
• Coordinate external audits and act as primary contact for auditors.
• Maintain finance master data, reporting structures and approval workflows.
• Contribute to financial systems development and upgrades.
