Job summary

Gallagher Animal Management, via eShepherd, is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join the New Ventures team in Hamilton, NZ. This hands-on role covers full product development lifecycle from concept and circuit design to prototyping, testing and production implementation.

You'll design robust analog and digital electronics, develop prototypes, conduct validation, and mentor engineers while working with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class livestock management solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or related qualification.
• 5+ years in product development or R&D.
• Proven experience in commercial electronic products.
• Strong analogue and digital design capability.
• Experience with PCB CAD and electronics design tools.

Responsibilities

• Design electronic circuit solutions for new and existing products.
• Develop prototypes and support products from concept through production.
• Conduct testing, validation, and root-cause analysis to ensure product performance.
• Ensure designs comply with EMC, electrical safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Support technical reviews and contribute to sound engineering decision-making.
• Collaborate with Product, Software, Manufacturing, Procurement, and NPI teams.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
• Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies.
• Mentor and support the development of fellow engineers.

We're looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our New Ventures team and help develop the next generation of products powering this globally growing solution.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you'll contribute advanced technical expertise across the full product development lifecycle, from concept and circuit design through to prototyping, testing, validation, and production implementation.

Working within multidisciplinary teams, you'll design robust, cost-effective electronic solutions, solve complex technical challenges, and help ensure our products deliver exceptional quality, reliability, and performance in demanding real-world environments.

You'll also contribute to technical reviews, support engineering best practice, and help mentor developing engineers within the team.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
