Overview

Join Beca’s Primary / HV Substation Design team in this leading nationwide business. You will play a lead role delivering Primary and HV Substation designs to enable the transmission, distribution and decarbonisation of energy throughout New Zealand and Australia. You will build your technical primary and substation design skills, learning from Beca’s leading subject matter experts, while developing and coaching the next generation of electrical engineers. Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of Primary and HV Substation designs to enable transmission, distribution and decarbonisation projects across New Zealand and Australia.
• Develop technical capabilities in primary and substation design, mentoring and coaching the next generation of electrical engineers.
• Collaborate across a diverse team to support delivery excellence, quality assurance, and high-quality design; manage multiple workstreams and adapt to changing project deliverables and timeframes.
• Apply detailed design abilities to create High Voltage (HV 220kV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV 500 kV) electrical conceptual and detailed designs for transmission and distribution clients using the latest digital design technologies.
• Contribute to stakeholder communication, client management, bidding, and the preparation of project proposals, with accountability for financial and programme outcomes on projects and work packages you lead.
• Mentor, coach, and develop junior Power electrical engineers, supporting on-the-job and technical training.

About You

Your primary and substation design skills are grounded in solid fundamentals, demonstrated through delivering high voltage substation designs with quality and accuracy while guiding others. You understand steps for producing substation layouts, equipment lists, clearance checks, and HV cable designs, and you are familiar with New Zealand and Australian regulations. Proficiency in CYMCAP, CDEGs, Autodesk SBS, Inventor, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation is advantageous.

You excel at building credible relationships across functions and disciplines, collaborating effectively with clients, contractors and community groups.
