The Role

We’re seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer or someone with equivalent practical experience to join our growing team in Nelson. You’ll play a key role in delivering complex industrial and commercial projects, taking responsibility from concept design through to commissioning. If you enjoy solving technical challenges and delivering practical, effective solutions for clients, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems (wiring, control panels, motors, equipment) in line with NZ standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in machinery, control systems, and components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams.
  • Program, configure, and maintain PLCs and automated control systems.
  • Test and verify system performance using appropriate tools.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance teams, and production staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and repair work.
  • Support system upgrades and other tasks as directed.
What We’re Looking For

(Essential)

  • Current New Zealand Electrical Registration.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in industrial or commercial electrical design.
  • Proficiency in drafting and interpreting plans (AutoCAD or EPlan preferred).
  • Strong technical skills in circuit sizing, cable schedules, and load calculations.
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills, with solid MS Office proficiency.
  • 5+ years of PLC programming experience (Rockwell and/or Schneider platforms).
It Would Be Great If You Also Have
  • Experience with Ignition or Intouch SCADA.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases or Visual Studio.
  • Background in project estimation or client-facing design reviews.
