NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and delivery of enterprise data platforms and pipelines, shaping our modern data platform and engineering practices. You will mentor data engineers while driving technical excellence across the organisation.

You will work across squads to design modern data products and pipelines, ensuring secure, scalable solutions that support analytics, AI and decision making.

Qualifications

• Enterprise-scale data platforms and pipelines experience.
• Advanced SQL and Python; Databricks experience.
• Cloud-based data platforms; Lakehouse and medallion patterns.
• Analytics, BI, ML and AI use case delivery experience.
• DataOps, automation, observability and operational excellence.
• Data governance, privacy, security and compliance understanding.
• Ability to influence across squads, programmes and disciplines.
• Experience identifying and managing technical debt and priorities.
• Strong relationship management and communication.
• Mentoring others and contributing to engineering excellence.
