The Role
They are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their IT Services team. In this role, you will lead the design, build, and optimisation of scalable data solutions that underpin analytics, reporting, and innovation. You’ll act as a subject matter expert, advising on best practices, mentoring team members, and ensuring their data platforms are future-ready.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of high-quality data pipelines and solutions
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into data-driven solutions
• Ensure data governance, documentation, and security standards are embedded across all projects
• Drive architectural decisions and long-term data strategy
• Evaluate and recommend new tools and approaches to improve data engineering practices
• Support troubleshooting, optimisation, and performance tuning at an advanced level

Requirements

• Extensive experience in data engineering or BI development, with a proven record of delivering scalable, accurate, and reliable data solutions
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
• Advanced SQL and strong expertise in data modelling
• Proficiency in Python and Microsoft Azure tools (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, SQL Database)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate as a trusted advisor across technical and business teams
• Experience influencing data strategy and embedding best practices
• Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, continuous learning, and inclusive practices
