Overview

Fluid Recruitment is proudly partnering with Meridian Energy in searching for a Senior Dam Safety / Civil Engineer.

The Company

Mai te hiku ki te taurapa, whitikina e te rā | From the tail of the fish to the tail of the waka, shines the sun.

Meridian is Aotearoa's largest renewable electricity producer, generating power from 100% renewable sources - wind, water, and sun!

Meridian values and lives by three "How to Be's": 'be gutsy', working together by 'being in the waka' and doing the right thing by 'being a good human'. The team work hard and value the importance of connection and fun, whether this be through daily quizzes, morning teas, birthday and cultural celebrations both in person and virtually!

The Role

Part of Meridian's Dam Safety & Civil Engineering Team, you'll contribute to key asset management decisions and have ample opportunity to spend time in the field working directly with assets across the Waitaki and Manapouri Power Schemes.

This will enable you to utilise your technical skills in influencing how assets are managed, improving monitoring, preparing for and responding to emergencies and undertaking dam safety investigations and assessments. Using your people skills you'll oversee surveillance programmes, contribute to risk management, lead varied projects, and provide support and mentorship within the team.

All of which will involve collaborating with your fellow Dam Safety and Civil Engineers as well as other engineering disciplines, and working with Surveillance Teams, Maintainers / Operators, Project Delivery Teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders.

About You

With a strong background in asset management and civil project engineering you'll be relationship focused, experienced working with a range of stakeholders. Risk-based and pragmatic, you'll ensure assets are managed in a financially astute manner that maximises asset value while in accordance with dam safety regulations and best practice.

  • A proven track record of effectively managing assets
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • A high attention to detail while still seeing the bigger picture
  • Financial and project planning experience
  • A relevant qualification in civil or a related engineering field
The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to be based in one of the most picturesque parts of the country, working on site and close to the assets you are responsible for. While joining a well-resourced local office, you will also form part of the broader Engineering Team where you will get to lean on and collaborate with a range of engineering disciplines, all with strong subject matter expertise.

Meridian's Twizel office enables you to choose your location throughout the Mackenzie and Waitaki Districts. Perfect for those looking to make the most of the outdoors, raise a family in a community orientated environment or wanting to unwind. There's no shortage of all year-round activities thanks to ample mountains, large lakes, multiple cycle trails and serine skies (whether for gliding or simply gazing at the stars!).

Benefits
  • Annual incentive scheme
  • Relocation support (if needed)
  • Health Insurance - Southern Cross Wellbeing One
  • Life, trauma and income protection insurance
  • Three additional annual leave days over the Christmas break, enhanced parental leave and options to buy additional leave
  • Enhanced KiwiSaver contributions
  • Access to Meridian's employee share scheme
  • Excellent learning and development opportunities
  • An award-winning wellbeing programme
  • Employee discounts off your power
  • A one-off $400 payment to support your work from home set-up (if needed)
