Job summary

New Zealand Customs Service is seeking a Security Lead – Cyber Operations and Engineering to act as the senior technical authority for our cyber security operations capability. You will provide leadership for the Cyber Operations and Security Engineering function and drive proactive security outcomes across threat detection, incident response, and secure engineering.

Qualifications

Significant hands-on experience leading cyber security operations, detection engineering, security monitoring, and incident response in a large enterprise.

Responsibilities

Lead cyber security operations, detection engineering, incident response, and security engineering activities across Customs.
Drive AI-assisted security operations to improve threat detection and response speed.
Establish and improve security standards, guardrails, and operational processes to strengthen security posture.
Provide technical leadership across vulnerability management, identity security, cloud security, endpoint security, and secure email services.
Embed security-by-design principles into technology delivery and operational services.
Support Zero Trust, environment segmentation, and security automation initiatives.
Drive continuous improvement of cyber security controls and operational security across the organisation.
Ensure alignment with NZISM, PSR, and Customs policies and standards.
