Job summary

Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (TAU) is Auckland Council‑controlled and focuses on climate and sustainability initiatives within the region. The Senior Climate Change and Sustainability Advisor is a 12‑month fixed term parental leave cover role.

You will provide specialist advice, lead resilience projects, and influence strategy through strong stakeholder collaboration. A strategic thinker with a passion for positive change and regional impact is essential.

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of climate change and sustainability strategies, policies, and practices.
• Experience writing technical reports for diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Understanding of local government’s role in climate change.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, cross-sector partnership environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice and strategic direction on climate and sustainability issues, focusing on adaptation and resilience.
• Lead climate resilience projects, including risk assessments and adaptation planning.
• Build strong internal and external relationships to influence decision-making.
• Effectively communicate sustainability outcomes to internal and external audiences.
• Identify issues and opportunities from national and international best practice and trends.
