Job summary

MFAT is seeking a Senior Development Adviser to shape New Zealand’s climate change and environment programming for international development. You will advise on policy direction, deliver strategic insights, and manage a portfolio spanning climate and environment activities in the Pacific and beyond.

You will work with senior leaders, Ministers and international partners, ensuring high-quality policy design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in climate change/environment policy and program delivery in NZ or the Pacific.
• Experience in complex policy initiatives or investment planning.
• Senior experience in international development policy and programme design.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Advise on the shape and direction of MFAT's climate change and environment programming.
• Provide technical insights into design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of IDC climate activities.
• Manage a portfolio of climate and environment issues and activities.
• Provide advice on climate change in international development contexts (Pacific focus).
• Contribute to mainstreaming climate and environment in IDC strategies, policies, programmes and activities.
• Represent MFAT in domestic and international engagements.
• Maintain relationships across MFAT, government agencies, partners and international organisations.
