Job summary

The University of Otago is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join the IT Information Systems team in the Digital Division. You will lead business analysis across data platform and learner insights initiatives, translating needs into clear requirements and priorities to support delivery.

Working with stakeholders, data specialists, architects, and engineers, you will shape data products that improve learner outcomes and decision-making. Flexible and remote arrangements will be considered.

Qualifications

• Senior-level business analysis experience delivering complex digital, data, or technology initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
• Experience defining business requirements, processes, and outcomes that support successful delivery.
• Strong understanding of data and analytics, translating business needs into meaningful insights.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.

Working closely with stakeholders, data specialists, architects, and engineers, you'll identify business needs, define requirements, and help shape products that turn data into meaningful insights.

You are an experienced Senior Business Analyst who thrives in complex environments and enjoys working at the intersection of business, data, and technology.

With strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills, you're able to bring clarity to ambiguity, build trusted relationships, and translate complex ideas into practical solutions.

Essential:

• Proven senior-level business analysis experience delivering complex digital, data, or technology initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams.
• Experience defining business requirements, processes, and outcomes that support successful delivery.
• Strong understanding of data and analytics, including translating business needs into meaningful insights.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred:

• Experience working with data platforms, analytics, business intelligence, or reporting environments.
• Experience within education, learner insights, or customer-focused data environments.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), 18-month fixed-term position. While Dunedin is our preferred location, flexible and remote working arrangements will be considered.
