Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children in New Zealand is seeking a Senior Advisor Assurance to join the Risk and Internal Assurance team. You will lead, undertake, and support internal audit engagements and provide tailored advice to managers and staff on assurance activities.

This fixed-term role until December 2027 offers a challenging, rewarding environment with opportunities to influence assurance work, planning activities, and reporting while working closely with the Principal Advisor

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or knowledge gained through relevant experience.
• Ability to critically analyse and interpret complex information and make effective, well-reasoned decisions.
• Excellent attention to detail, both written and numerical, and commitment to quality.
• Public service experience would be an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal skills - able to adapt these to suit the needs of the audience, able to influence others to accept ideas/strategies.
• Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture

Responsibilities

• Lead internal audit and assurance engagements.
• Provide high quality tailored advice to managers and staff on assurance activities.
• Support planning and delivery of the internal audit work programme.
• Assist general internal assurance reporting and advice.
• Work closely with the Principal Advisor Assurance.
