Job summary

EY is seeking a Senior Associate - Audit to join our NZ practice. You will work with the data transformation team to develop innovative audit solutions that digitalise and automate audit stages, enabling deeper client engagement and value-added insights.

The role offers a hybrid working arrangement based in Auckland or Wellington, with potential flexible hours. EY emphasises learning and development to help you progress and contribute to building a better working world for our people and clients.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting matters.
• Experience delivering external audit and assurance engagements.
• Experience leading the planning, execution and reporting on audits.
• Progress towards/completion of a recognised accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent).

This is a hybrid position and can be based in either our Auckland (Tāmaki Makaurau) or Wellington (Te Whanganui-a-Tara) office. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities

• Planning and coordinating audits with appropriate consideration of audit risk issues, ensuring audits are executed in compliance with policies and protocols.
• Executing audit processes with an understanding of an entity’s operating environment.

Ngā Pūkenga | Skills and attributes for success

• Knowledge of audit technical skills, audit methodology and audit documentation standards.
• Experience delivering external audit and assurance engagements.
• Experience leading the planning, execution and reporting on audits.
• A degree and/or progress towards/completion of a recognised accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent)

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

• Experience in accounting frameworks (IFRS) and in related financial reporting matters.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach.
• Demonstrable experience of managing a project, with particular emphasis on time management and communication.
• The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their concerns and providing value added recommendations.
