Job description

About the Firm
I'm pleased to be partnering with a highly regarded specialist litigation firm that has built a strong national reputation for its focus on professional indemnity, insurance litigation, and dispute resolution. Known for its expertise and collaborative culture, the firm is continuing to grow and is now seeking to appoint an experienced litigator at Senior Associate or Associate level. This is a full-time, fully remote position, offering flexibility and autonomy alongside top-tier work.

About the Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a specialist litigation practice. You'll be trusted with high-level responsibility across a wide variety of complex and high-stakes civil litigation matters, including running trials independently and providing strategic direction on major files.

The firm acts for insurers and insured clients across New Zealand, with matters often involving professional liability, construction disputes, disciplinary proceedings, and other insurance-related litigation. You will work closely with a team of highly experienced litigators and partners who operate collaboratively, though remotely, to deliver strong client outcomes.

This position offers the best of both worlds: the opportunity to work on high-calibre litigation files while enjoying the flexibility of working from home.

What We're Looking For:
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • At least 8 years' experience in civil litigation, ideally with a focus on insurance, professional indemnity, or similar.

  • Strong trial advocacy skills and confidence leading proceedings independently.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including drafting complex pleadings, submissions, and client advice.

  • The ability to work autonomously, manage your own files, and thrive in a remote environment.

  • A collaborative approach to working with colleagues and clients across the country.

Why Apply?
If you're looking to:

  • Take a meaningful step forward in your litigation career

  • Join a firm that values your experience and offers autonomy

  • Enjoy the flexibility of full-time remote work

  • And work with a respected, specialist team on stimulating and varied files

Then this opportunity could be the perfect fit. This role won't stay open for long, so if you're considering a move, I'd love to have a confidential conversation.
