Job summary

Artemis Executive Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Associate for a leading Technology, Media & Telecommunications team based in Auckland CBD. You will work on technology procurement and development projects, privacy and data protection, cyber security, and regulatory advisory work for a diverse client base.

Lead matters, manage key client relationships, mentor junior lawyers and partner with partners on strategic matters including technology-focused M&A.

Qualifications

• At least 9 years' PQE focusing on TMT, technology or commercial law
• Experience advising on privacy, data protection and cyber security
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills across complex commercial agreements
• Sound knowledge of regulatory frameworks including copyright and fair trading

About the role

Based in Auckland CBD, this outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Associate to join a highly regarded Technology, Media & Telecommunications team.

You’ll work across a diverse range of complex and engaging matters including technology procurement and development projects, privacy and data protection, cyber security, commercial contracting, digital infrastructure, content licensing, and broader regulatory advisory work. The client base spans large corporates, public sector entities, tech start-ups, private equity and venture capital investors, and media and healthcare organisations.

You will be trusted to lead files, manage key client relationships, mentor junior lawyers and work closely with partners on strategic matters, including specialist support on technology-focused M&A and transactional projects.

This is more than a Senior Associate role — it is an opportunity to build your market profile within a leading TMT practice, contribute to business development initiatives, and position yourself for long-term progression.

What we’re looking for

• A motivated lawyer with at least 9 years’ PQE with a strong focus on TMT, technology or commercial law (private practice or in-house) who holds or is entitled to hold a current NZ legal practising certificate
• Demonstrated experience advising on privacy, data protection and cyber security issues
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills across complex commercial agreements
• Sound knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, including copyright and fair trading legislation
• Confidence leading matters and working directly with clients
• A collaborative mindset and interest in contributing to business development and team growth
• You are motivated, forward-thinking and enjoy working as part of a cohesive, high-performing team
