Job summary

Bank of New Zealand is seeking experienced Senior API Developers to join our Core Ledger Replacement programme in Wellington. You will help rebuild the engine room of BNZ, delivering modern cloud-based solutions, scalable APIs, and reliable production systems in an agile environment.

As a senior member, you will own delivery of complex features, provide technical leadership, mentor others, and collaborate across teams to balance speed with quality.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Java, Spring Boot and REST APIs.
• Leadership of complex technical work across systems or teams.
• Ability to design, deploy and maintain scalable, reliable services.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex features and initiatives in a banking domain.
• Own on-call and production support within the domain.
• Architect and implement robust, scalable systems with long-term sustainability.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to others; influence technical direction.
• Collaborate across disciplines to drive quality and outcomes.
