Job description

Due to an internal promotion, we're looking for a Senior Analyst - Financial Planning & Reporting to join us in a key role with real impact. As part of our Financial Planning & Reporting team, you'll be at the heart of corporate decision-making, providing accurate, timely, and insightful analysis to our Executive Leadership Team, the Board, and our shareholder via Treasury.

You'll do this through helping to produce the monthly performance reports and the annual three year financial plan, along with leading the external reporting for our shareholder (Treasury).

As one of two Senior Analysts, you'll be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the production of monthly performance reports for the Executive Leadership Team and Board
  • Managing external financial reporting and planning relationships with our shareholder (Treasury)
  • Providing monthly financial and non-financial reporting to business leaders across the organisation
  • Taking ownership of key financial structures like the chart of accounts and reporting hierarchies
  • Driving continuous improvement in our financial planning system (Planning Analytics 2.0 (PA2.0)), and becoming a go-to SME

This role blends deep analysis with strategic advisory. You'll help NZ Post make sense of our numbers and use them to guide our direction - both internally and externally.

You'll be an experienced financial analyst, with either a finance or accounting degree ideally be CA or equivalent qualified.

You'll bring both technical expertise and business savvy and you'll possess:

  • 7+ years' experience in a management accounting or financial planning/reporting environment
  • A proven ability to analyse complex financials - across Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
  • A strong working knowledge of financial planning tools - ideally PA2.0 or similar (TM1, Power BI, etc.)
  • Great relationship skills - you'll work closely with senior leaders, Treasury, and wider Finance
  • Experience leading or supporting process improvements, projects, or system upgrades
  • Attention to detail and a drive for high-quality, insightful reporting

Bonus points if you've worked in or with the public sector and understand the machinery of government.
