Job summary

The organization in New Zealand is seeking a Senior AI Developer to join an engineering team delivering production-ready AI-powered solutions using .NET and Azure.

Responsibilities include building AI-enabled apps, APIs, and integrations, plus frontend work with modern JS frameworks. Hybrid work setup with two days WFH weekly is offered. Christchurch office located with parking and modern tech environment.

Qualifications

About The Role

We're partnering with an established New Zealand organisation investing heavily in AI and modern software development. They're looking for an experienced Senior AI Developer to join a growing engineering team focused on building practical AI-powered applications and solutions. This is a hands‑on development role combining strong full stack engineering with emerging AI technologies. You'll work across modern .NET and Azure environments, developing APIs, integrations, AI agents and intelligent applications that solve real business problems. AI is already being actively adopted across the organisation, so this isn't an experimental environment. You'll be building and enhancing production‑ready solutions, working alongside developers, testers and business analysts, while helping shape how AI is integrated into existing platforms and workflows.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build AI-powered applications, agents and integrations using LLMs, AI APIs, orchestration frameworks and MCP servers
• Design, develop and maintain scalable applications using C#, .NET and modern Azure services
• Develop reusable APIs, backend services and integrations that connect AI capabilities with existing business systems
• Contribute to frontend development using React, Vue.js, TypeScript or similar technologies
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver high-quality software and support the wider adoption of AI development tools and practices

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years' experience in software development, with strong hands‑on expertise in C# and modern .NET
• Practical experience building AI-enabled applications, agents or integrations using LLMs, AI APIs, MCP or orchestration frameworks
• Solid experience with Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus and cloud-based application development
• Strong understanding of API development, system integrations, software architecture and modern engineering practices
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across technical and business teams

Nice to Have

• Experience with Azure AI Foundry or other Microsoft AI services
• Exposure to frontend frameworks such as React, Vue.js or TypeScript
• Experience developing custom MCP servers or integrating AI agents with enterprise systems
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and modern software delivery practices
• Experience contributing to AI adoption across engineering teams
