Job summary

New Zealand Government’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) seeks a senior policy and performance professional to support the Strategic Enablement Group in Wellington. You will translate strategic aims into clear material for executive leaders and develop performance measures that show how the agency adds value.

The role operates in a dynamic environment with potential off-hours emergency responses, and offers a fixed term/secondment until 22 October 2027.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

In this role you will be, able to convert strategic thinking into clear and compelling material fit for purpose and audience; produce reporting to provide actionable insights for ELT and SMT on NEMA's performance and advance the development of performance measures. The purpose of the Business and Performance Unit/Te Wāhanga Whakahaere Umanga is to lead work on the Agency's strategic direction, accountability requirements (including OIA's & PQ's), organisational planning and performance, and provide general business support across the organisation. As part of the Strategic Enablement Group, you will ensure our dynamic and fast-moving organisation is heading in the right direction, has a clear sense of purpose and builds transparency around how we add value. As part of working within NEMA, there may be a requirement to respond to emergency activations in the event of a national emergency response. This may involve responding to events outside of normal working hours if an emergency response of national significance occurs.
