Job summary

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) invites applications for a Senior Advisor, Pacific Posting (Tonga-based) based in Nuku'alofa. This Fixed term/Secondment is 27 months with potential extension and dual reporting to the Tonga NDRMO Director and the NEMA IET Team Leader.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a tertiary qualification in emergency management or equivalent knowledge/experience.
Strong experience in engagement, building and maintaining effective relationships.
Previous experience working in the Pacific region.
Experience with emergency operations, SOPs, and intergovernmental partnerships.

Responsibilities

Support emergency management capability development of staff with a focus on strategic planning and leadership mentoring.
Deliver products and outcomes aligned with the work program for the Tonga NDRMO Director.
Mentor NDRMO staff and provide peer-to-peer and technical advice as required.
Support NEOC during activation periods and contribute to incident management.
