Overview

This is an hourly rate contract role (start end of Sept 2026, through to end January 2026) at a central government agency, suitable for a Wellington-based contractor with expertise in public sector business planning and corporate accountability processes & documents, and experience in coordinating the preparation of answers to Select Committee questions for the agency's annual review.

You will be a seasoned Senior Advisor with demonstrated experience in leading business planning, and the development of public sector corporate accountability documents including annual reports, quarterly reports.

The focus for this Contractor will be on the Annual Review and on business planning, with some routine reporting.

You bring deep knowledge of the machinery of government and a track record of delivering high-quality outputs under pressure. You’re confident engaging with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead business planning and the development of public sector corporate accountability documents (including annual reports and quarterly reports).

Coordinate the preparation of answers to Select Committee questions for the agency’s annual review.

Contribute to routine reporting and the focus on the Annual Review as described above.

Engage with senior stakeholders to deliver high-quality outputs under pressure.

Skills and experience required
  • Proven experience at Senior Advisor level, in public sector business planning and corporate accountability processes & documents (Annual Reports, Quarterly Reports)
  • Experience in coordinating the preparation of answers to Select Committee questions for the agency's annual review
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Public Service Act, Crown Entities Act, Public Finance Act)
  • Excellent communication, analytical and relationship-building skills
