The Opportunity:
  • We seek an energetic actuarial student for our local Actuarial & Insurance Risk team. You will get to work on a variety of engagements across general insurance, life, health, risk management, and government sectors. This role involves collaboration with members of our Consulting & Audit teams across New Zealand and Australia. We support our advisors by developing their knowledge, so they can provide clients with valuable services.
  • You will participate in projects across various functional areas within traditional insurance, broadening your understanding of insurance operations. Additionally, you can expand your expertise through diverse projects in the financial sector, including advisory work, supported by experienced colleagues from the KPMG network.
Day to day you will:
  • We will help develop your skills across a variety of actuarial fields and your day-to-day activity could include any number of activities such as, but not limited to:
  • Engage in traditional actuarial tasks such as financial reporting, pricing, remediation, due diligence, and external audits.
  • Help clients develop strategies for managing, modeling, and reporting climate risks.
  • Improve existing actuarial and risk management reporting to make processes more efficient.
  • Work on reinsurance and capital optimisation and modeling.
  • Use your knowledge and analytical skills in various client projects to enhance KPMG's services.
What you'll bring to our team:
  • 2-5 years of relevant actuarial experience in general or life insurance, gained in a consultancy or company environment, along with relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Strong skills in building relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, solve problems, and demonstrate strong technical and communication skills.
