Job summary

Financial Markets Authority is seeking a Senior Adviser in the Perimeter & Response team, Auckland or Wellington. You will assess suspected misconduct, determine regulatory responses, and support enforcement actions across Aotearoa’s financial sector.

Bring strong judgement, regulatory expertise and collaboration skills to a fast-paced, high-profile environment focused on fair outcomes for consumers and markets.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in regulatory, legal, audit, investigations, compliance, risk or financial services.
• Proven ability to analyse complex information and give evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience leading inquiries or investigations with competing priorities and ambiguity.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex misconduct inquiries and assessments involving market participants.
• Analyse information, identify harms, and make recommended regulatory responses.
• Collaborate with other teams to achieve effective outcomes.
• Prepare high-quality recommendations, reports and decision materials for senior stakeholders.
• Provide subject matter support on complex cases and investigations.
• Contribute to capability building and mentoring within the team.
