Job summary

Mons Royale is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant based in Wanaka to lead the financial accounting function and team. You will partner with the business to provide insights that drive better decisions and ensure strong controls and compliance.

You will manage inventory valuation and reporting, support budgeting and forecasting, and drive process improvements in NetSuite as the company grows.

Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent required.
• Strong experience in financial accounting including month-end/year-end processes.
• Experience leading and developing a team.
• Solid understanding of inventory accounting in retail/apparel/consumer products.
• Ability to partner with the business to turn financial data into insights.
• Experience with NetSuite and process automation.
• Experience across NZ and international operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the financial accounting team.
• Own month-end and year-end accounting, GL, reconciliations and records.
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls, policies and processes.
• Lead monthly management reporting and commentary with KPI analysis.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and planning with financial modeling.
• Partner with Product, Commercial, Marketing, Retail and Operations leaders on pricing and profitability decisions.
• Ensure inventory is valued and reported accurately to support working capital.
• Champion NetSuite improvements and automation to scale finance.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our mission. Based in Wanaka, you'll lead our financial accounting function and team, proactively partner with the business to deliver insights that support better decisions, and ensure controls and compliance are consistently strong.

Inventory sits at the heart of our business, and your accounting and analysis will directly support how we manage working capital and profitability. You'll keep evolving NetSuite as a reliable, efficient platform, bringing a continuous improvement mindset to our processes and systems as we grow.

What you'll do:

• Lead and develop the financial accounting team
• Own month-end and year-end accounting, keeping the general ledger, reconciliations and financial records accurate, complete and timely.
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls, accounting policies and processes, and support audit, statutory reporting and tax compliance.
• Lead monthly management reporting and commentary, with clear analysis of performance, profitability, key drivers, risks and opportunities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and planning through financial analysis and modelling, and develop KPI reporting that improves visibility and decision-making.
• Partner with leaders across Product, Commercial, Marketing, Retail and Operations to support pricing, profitability and investment decisions.
• Ensure inventory is accurately valued and reported, providing insights that support inventory planning and working capital outcomes.
• Champion NetSuite as our finance subject matter expert, driving process improvements, system enhancements and automation that make finance more efficient and scalable.

Whatyou’llbring:

• A genuine connection to what we stand for, pushing boundaries to drive change in an industry dominated by plastics.
• Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification.
• Strong financial accounting experience, including leading month-end and year-end processes, balance sheet integrity, and maintaining robust financial controls.
• Experience leading and developing a team
• Solid understanding of inventory accounting, ideally within retail, apparel, or consumer products.
• Skilled as a business partner - able to turn financial analysis into clear insights that support budgeting, forecasting, and commercial decisions.
• Strength in finance systems, ideally NetSuite, with an eye for process improvement and automation.
• Experience working across NZ and international operations
