Job description

Why You Will Be Excited About This Role

Are you ready to take your sales career to the next level? At Cliftons, we don’t just sell event venues - we create remarkable experiences that connect people and deliver real impact. As our Senior Account & Business Development Manager in Wellington, you’ll step into a role where every day brings new opportunities to connect with blue-chip corporate and government clients, helping them design and deliver standout business events in Wellington & beyond.

In this role, you will utilise your commercial acumen to uncover business opportunities, develop strategic relationships, and grow your client portfolio. You’ll work in a dynamic, fast-moving industry where no two events are the same, keeping you engaged, challenged, and constantly learning. One day you're hosting a C-level site tour, the next you're crafting a strategic proposal for a nationwide learning program.

This opportunity is ideal for a B2B sales professional who excels at building relationships, delivering value, and closing complex deals in a people-focused environment.

How This Will Transform Your Career

At Cliftons, we believe in growing talent from within. From day one, you’ll receive training in our proven sales methodology, sales & marketing tech stack, and ongoing coaching from a highly-regarded sales leader.

You’ll also have access to external training, LinkedIn Learning, and a personalised career development plan to sharpen your skills and stay ahead in the industry.

Why You Will Like Working Here

At Cliftons, we live by our FLIPIT values: Fun, Leadership, Integrity, Passion, Innovation, and Teamwork. You'll be joining a company that has been recognised as a Best Place to Work - we foster a culture where people feel supported, recognised, and empowered to succeed. You’ll be working as part of a collaborative sales team, backed by strong marketing and operational support to help you do what you do best - close deals and build lasting client relationships.

On top of a competitive salary and quarterly commission structure, we offer:

  • All Roles Flex Policy - open to flexible schedules and hybrid work options
  • Wellbeing benefits - including a paid mini-break before you start (Go Away With Us), quarterly Me Days, and an EAP
  • Employee discounts
  • Regular celebrations, events, and recognition

What You Will Be Working On

In this role, you will take charge of managing and growing a portfolio of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 corporate and government clients. You’ll develop strategic account plans that drive client retention and revenue growth, ensuring a robust and sustainable business pipeline. Through face-to-face and virtual meetings, you’ll identify and close high-value business opportunities, leveraging your commercial acumen to secure long-term partnerships.

Your day-to-day will involve conducting venue inspections, virtual tours, and tailored client presentations to showcase Cliftons’ capabilities. You’ll also represent Cliftons at industry events and conferences, expanding our market presence and building influential relationships. Internally, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless event execution and exceptional client experiences.

What Type of Person Will Be Successful?

We’re looking for a sales-driven relationship builder who thrives on finding and closing opportunities. If you have:

  • 3+ years of B2B sales experience (ideally in events, functions, or conference sales - but we're open to industry experience),
  • A track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets,
  • Experience engaging with key decision-makers (up to C-level executives),
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and CRM skills,
  • A commercial mindset and hunger to grow business spend,
  • then we’d love to hear from you!

How To Apply

Please send us:

  • A copy of your CV
