Job summary

KATOA TECHNOLOGY LIMITED in Auckland is seeking a skilled Security Technician to join our team, focusing on the design, installation and maintenance of electronic security systems for residential and commercial clients.

You will install CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and intercoms, carry out low-voltage wiring, read electrical drawings and ensure compliance with NZ safety standards. This full-time role offers up to 60 hours per week, with a pay rate from $28-$35 per hour.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related field; OR at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Proven experience with security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control or intercoms) is highly regarded.
• Solid understanding of electrical cabling, wiring and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and system specifications.
• Familiarity with PLC, relay and motor/speed control systems is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, commission and maintain security systems including CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and intercom systems.
• Carry out electrical cabling and wiring for low-voltage security equipment in accordance with technical drawings, site plans and wiring diagrams.
• Read and interpret electrical engineering drawings, schematics and system layouts.
• Diagnose system faults, perform repairs and scheduled maintenance to ensure all systems operate reliably.
• Install and terminate data cables, coaxial cables, fibre and power supplies for security devices.
• Configure and troubleshoot PLC, relay and control circuits associated with security and access control systems.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise system downtime.
• Liaise with project managers, electricians, clients and site personnel to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Ensure all work complies with New Zealand electrical safety regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, repairs and parts replacements.
