Job summary

The Ministry of Justice - New Zealand is seeking an Information Security Analyst to join the Security Operations Centre in Wellington. This permanent full-time role focuses on monitoring security activity, investigating alerts and supporting incident response across Microsoft security tooling, email and endpoint security, identity and access management and security administration.

Qualifications

• Bring experience in security operations, incident response or a closely related technical role.
• Apply structured analysis to alerts, logs and technical evidence without jumping to conclusions.
• Communicate clearly and build effective relationships with technical and business stakeholders.
• Show initiative, sound judgement, attention to detail and a strong commitment to learning.
• Show commitment to te Tiriti o Waitangi and an understanding of Te Ao Māori.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and triage alerts from Microsoft Sentinel, Defender and other security channels.
• Investigate phishing, malware, suspicious access, lost devices and related security events.
• Manage day-to-day security incidents and requests using approved procedures and playbooks.
• Document findings, actions and outcomes clearly, and elevate complex matters with evidence.
• Provide practical security guidance and help improve team processes, detections and automation.
