Job summary

Encounter Kaikoura is seeking Seasonal Cafe Front of House Team Members to deliver friendly, professional service during the summer season. You’ll be the first point of contact for customers and help ensure smooth cafe operations in a busy environment.

The role includes cup-by-cup service, cash handling, and a focus on safety and teamwork. Availability for September start, with fixed-term contracts from November to April preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer facing hospitality or front-of-house roles is preferred.
• Excellent communication and a proactive, team oriented approach.
• Barista experience is desirable but training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and serve cafe customers with friendly, professional service.
• Prepare and serve quality coffee and food orders to high standards.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures and cash handling when required.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organised cafe environment throughout the day.
• Communicate guest feedback to kitchen or management as needed.
• Support sustainability by following responsible workplace practices.
