Job summary

Ōrewa College is seeking an enthusiastic science teacher to join our collaborative department from Term 1, 2027. You will teach a hands-on science programme across Years 9–13, with a focus on investigation, discovery and sense-making of the world.

We offer senior pathways across biology, chemistry, physics, earth science and space science, with scholarship opportunities. You will contribute to professional growth and our Te Reo Māori initiative, while shaping department development.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching science across Years 9–13.
• Engaging hands-on science programmes and inquiry-based learning.
• Willingness to contribute to Te Reo Māori programme and school iwi initiatives.
• Interest in developing specialist pathways for Levels 2 and 3 biology, chemistry and physics.

Responsibilities

Ōrewa College is a high-performing Year 7–13 school nestled on the Hibiscus Coast.

We are seeking an enthusiastic science teacher to join our collaborative department from Term 1, 2027. The successful applicant will have high expectations for ākonga and be keen to help shape the development of the department.

You will teach an engaging, hands‑on science programme across Years 9–13, where investigation, discovery and making sense of the world are at the heart of learning. With excellent facilities, we aim to make science active, challenging and enjoyable for all ākonga.

At senior level, we offer a broad range of pathways across biology, chemistry, physics, earth science and space science, with scholarship opportunities in biology, chemistry and physics. Please state your preferred specialist area(s) for Levels 2 and 3.

At Ōrewa College, we have a strong focus on professional growth, including a developing school-wide approach to instructional coaching, where teachers work alongside colleagues to strengthen practice and improve outcomes for ākonga.
