Primary ITO is seeking a Trades Academy Tutor to support students through our Schools Pathway Programmes, helping young people gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue a career in the agriculture and primary industries sector.

This fixed-term position runs 18 January 2027 to 19 November 2027, at Pio Pio, delivering engaging and practical learning experiences that connect students with real-world industry opportunities while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
• Practical experience and sound industry knowledge within agriculture, farming, or the wider primary industries sector.
• Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, training, or mentoring young people.
• Demonstrated ability to engage learners and deliver informative, interactive, and practical training programmes.
• Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to promoting and working within safe work practices.

• Promote and uphold safe work practices, ensuring all programme activities meet health and safety requirements.

About the Role

The Trades Academy Tutor will support and guide students through our Schools Pathway Programmes, helping young people gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue a career in the agriculture and primary industries sector.

This is a fixed-term position working 10 hours per week (one 8 hour day in Pio Pio and 2 hours of administration remote working on a separate day) from 18 January 2027 to 19 November 2027, based at Pio Pio.

As a Trades Academy Tutor, you will deliver engaging and practical learning experiences that connect students with real-world industry opportunities while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

In this role, you will:

• Deliver high-quality Schools Pathway Programmes that provide engaging and meaningful learning experiences for students.
• Equip students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to pursue employment and further training opportunities within the agriculture and primary industries sectors.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their potential.
