Qualifications

  • Experience leading a small team or crew in field operations.

  • Basic computer skills for timesheets, apps and iPad use.
  • Good customer service skills when dealing with landowners and communities.
  • Desirable: experience with construction/worksite tools such as chainsaw, trees, plant and machinery.
  • Desirable: weed spraying and vegetation management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team in flood protection asset maintenance (floodgates, stopbanks, pumpstations).
  • Assist contractors and coordinate with landowners during works.
  • Inspect rivers, streams and drains; support minor construction.
  • Respond to emergency/events; support Civil Defence roles as needed.
  • Promote safety and compliance across all tasks.
  • Contribute to team innovation and responsiveness within Waikato Region.

This Scheme Lead Officer position that would ideally suit someone with foreman/team leadership experience and enjoys working on a variety of tasks that will involve you in leading a small team of staff and assisting them with; flood protection asset maintenance such as:

Floodgates, stopbanks, pumpstations and other, drain spraying, fencing, assisting contractors, river, stream and drain inspection, minor construction, chainsaw & tree felling, planting & releasing.

Emergency/Event response incl Civil Defence roles.

The health and safety of our employees is paramount so you will need to have a strong focus on following safe policies and practices.

Confident swimmer a must.

Health and safety focused.

Good team player.

Physically fit/Able.

Basic computer skills to be able to use I pad, Phone apps, and Timesheets.

The role will involve working closely with landowners from time to time, so having good customer service skills is important.

Ideal (but not essential):

Experience around construction/building, tree felling or chainsaw use.

Experience working around plant and machinery.

Weed spraying, vegetation management.

This role is based within our Hauraki Operations team based in Te Aroha, completing works and tasks throughout the Hauraki/Coromandel area but not limited to within our Waikato Region
