Job summary

Brightwater School invites applications for a passionate Scale A teacher to join our junior school team in Term 1, 2027. This fixed-term role covers Year 1–8, with a focus on literacy, maths, science, languages, te reo Māori and The Arts.

Qualifications

• Certified teacher with NZ registration or equivalent.
• Experience teaching Years 1–8.
• Knowledge of PB4L (positive behaviour for learning).
• Strong planning, assessment and acceleration focus.

• Deliver curricula across Years 1–8 with focus on literacy and maths.
• Build strong relationships with whānau and students.

Brightwater School is seeking a passionate, motivated and enthusiastic Scale A teacher to join our committed and community-minded team at the beginning of term 1 2027, in the junior school.

We are a U4 contributing school of 245 students, located in the beautiful Tasman district. We are looking for a teacher who builds strong, respectful relationships and understands that success looks different for every ākonga.

The successful applicant will:

• have strong capability in structured literacy and structured maths - planning, teaching, assessment, and targeted acceleration
• be a team player who is culturally responsive
• have a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach and a focus on student wellbeing
• create a warm, welcoming environment for students and their families
• build excellent relationships with whānau and communicates with clarity, warmth, and professionalism
• previous experience and understanding of PB4L.
