The Willowbank Tourism Group is a leading operator of premium visitor experiences in Aotearoa New Zealand, encompassing Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, International Antarctic Centre, and Ko Tane Māori Cultural Experience. As kaitiaki of these unique attractions, we are dedicated to showcasing the richness of our country’s natural and cultural heritage and the wonder of the Antarctic region to both local and international audiences.
About the role:
This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and experienced marketer, to oversee and lead strategic sales and marketing efforts across our diverse group of attractions. The Sales and Marketing Manager will work closely with internal teams, external agencies, media, and tourism partners to ensure our messaging is on-brand, customer-focused, and impactful. In this role, you'll inspire a deeper appreciation for wildlife, the Antarctic environment, and indigenous heritage by creating unforgettable travel experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement integrated B2B and B2C sales strategies to drive visitation and revenue.
Build and maintain strong relationships with travel trade partners, wholesalers, media, and educational and conservation organisations.
Represent the group at key domestic and international trade events.
Lead brand aligned marketing campaigns across all three attractions, ensuring consistency while highlighting each site’s unique mission.
Oversee all digital content and performance including websites, email marketing, and social media.
Manage and mentor a cross-functional sales and marketing team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
Skills and Experience Required:
Minimum 5 years of senior-level sales and/or marketing experience in tourism, attractions, conservation, or another related industry.
A tertiary qualification in Marketing, Tourism, Business, Communications or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience in developing partnerships and delivering growth in B2B and B2C markets.
A demonstrated passion for wildlife conservation, environmental sustainability, and indigenous cultural values.
Strong digital marketing capabilities, including content creation, email marketing, website CMS management, and social media strategy.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Experience working in bicultural environments is highly valued.
The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Experience with campaign reporting and working with creative/design teams or freelancers.
