Job summary

Aderant is seeking a Development Manager to lead a software engineering team delivering SaaS products to legal sector clients. You will translate business goals into practical delivery plans, manage risks, and ensure high-quality, client-ready solutions with strong delivery discipline.

You will partner with Product, QA, Architects, and other engineering teams, drive AI-assisted practices, mentor engineers, and own outcomes from planning to delivery, while thriving in a fast-paced, hybrid work

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Development Manager or similar software leadership role.
• 2+ years delivering SaaS products in production environments.
• Strong technical background to engage in architecture, design, and engineering practices.
• Experience with CI/CD, cloud platforms, and Agile delivery.
• Proven track record delivering complex software against commitments.
• Strong planning, estimation, dependency management, and risk handling.
• People-management, coaching, and career development.
• Practical Agile focus on outcomes, predictability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery outcomes across sprint and quarterly commitments.
• Lead sprint and quarterly planning with refined work, understood dependencies, and realistic commitments.
• Run team ceremonies focused on decisions and removing blockers.
• Identify delivery risks and drive mitigation via scope trade-offs or alternative approaches.
• Communicate progress, risks, and changes to Product and Engineering leadership.
• Maintain technical depth to challenge estimates and design trade-offs.
• Collaborate with Product Management, QA, Architects, and other teams to translate priorities into plans.
• Develop team members through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Grow technical capability, ownership, and leadership within the team.
• Drive AI-assisted engineering practices to improve velocity, quality, and team effectiveness.
• Take ownership of client-reported issues and drive root-cause improvements.
• Continuously improve engineering practices and delivery predictability.
