Job summary

Summerset is seeking a dedicated casual roving relief chef to join our Hawke’s Bay teams. You’ll prepare resident meals, deliver vibrant cafe offerings, and cater to varied diets across Napier, Te Awa, Havelock North, and Hastings.

You’ll work in a fast-paced kitchen, creating cafe specials, supporting the team, and ensuring Food Safety Plans are followed. Flexible hours and a chance to contribute to themed events are offered.

Qualifications

• Professional cookery qualification.
• Experience working as a Cook or a Chef.
• Sound understanding of Food Safety Plans.
• A team player who loves passing on their culinary knowledge to colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook set meals delivered to residents.
• Cook short orders for cafe customers.
• Assist with creating a cafe specials menu.
• Comply with the approved Food Control Plan.
• Provide support and guidance to the kitchen team on food preparation techniques.
• Demonstrate culinary flair through village fine dining and themed events.
