Avalon Industrial Services, based in Hamilton, is seeking a Rope Access Project Manager to lead rope access projects across New Zealand’s infrastructure sector.
You will scope, quote, and program projects, manage budgets and subcontractors, and oversee teams across multiple sites while ensuring safety, quality, and client satisfaction. A hands-on role with travel to sites and a strong HSQE framework will be central to the role.

Avalon Industrial Services is a Hamilton-based specialist contractor delivering rope access, geotechnical work, confined space entry, and infrastructure inspection services across New Zealand. About the role
This role involves scoping, quoting, and programming rope access projects, including geotechnical inspection, maintenance, and remedial works. You will manage project budgets, resourcing, and subcontractors, coordinate rope access teams and equipment logistics across multiple concurrent sites, and ensure compliance with codes of practice and site-specific safety plans. You will act as the primary client contact for project delivery, reporting, and variations, work closely with the HSQE system to maintain audit-ready documentation, and conduct site visits and audits while supporting tender and prequalification submissions.
Key responsibilities
Scope, quote, and program rope access projects, including geotechnical inspection, maintenance, and remedial works
Manage project budgets, resourcing, and subcontractors
Coordinate rope access teams and equipment logistics across multiple concurrent sites
Ensure compliance with codes of practice and site-specific safety plans
Act as the primary client contact for project delivery, reporting, and variations
Work closely with the HSQE system to maintain audit-ready documentation on every job
Conduct site visits and audits
Support tender and prequalification submissions
About you
Proven project management experience in rope access, industrial services, or a related infrastructure/construction discipline
Rope access qualification (IRATA or equivalent) highly regarded; hands-on rope access background preferred
Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and site risk management
Confident client-facing communicator, comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities at once
Full New Zealand driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites as required
Excellent organisational skills and a genuine commitment to doing the job right
