Job description
Overview

Auckland One Rail (AOR) is seeking qualified and experienced Rolling Stock Technicians to join our dedicated maintenance team from October. We are looking for multiple trade certified professionals who want to be part of a safety-first, high-performance rail operation.

Responsibilities

As a Rolling Stock Technician, you'll be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of Auckland's passenger train fleet. This includes fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations to keep Tāmaki Makaurau moving.

You'll work across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, contributing to the performance and reliability of our rolling stock assets.

Role Details

This is a full-time permanent role based at our Wiri Depot. The hourly wage ranges from $35.68 to $39.43 and is dependent on individual skills and experience.

Requirements
  • A relevant industrial trade certificate OR at least three years of relevant industrial experience in railway or heavy vehicle industries
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Competence in using tools, and diagnostic equipment safely
  • A strong commitment to health and safety and following procedures
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Full driver's license and own vehicle to allow for flexibility in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Reliable and willingness to work varied shift patterns, including 12- hour shifts across days, nights and weekends
  • Meet satisfactory pre-employment checks which include medical, ACC claims history, MOJ, D&A test and satisfactory references
Desirable attributes
  • Previous experience in the rail industry
  • Knowledge of rail-specific systems and standards
  • Welding/fabrication skills
