Job summary

Carterton District Council seeks an experienced leader to oversee roading services across the Ruamāhanga Roads shared service. You will lead a dedicated team to deliver a safe, resilient and well‑managed roading network for our communities.

Bring strong leadership, extensive roading/engineering experience, and a solid understanding of NZTA processes, local government requirements, budgets and stakeholder management. A full NZ driver licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience leading roading/transport infrastructure teams.
• Strong understanding of NZTA/Waka Kotahi processes and local government requirements.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts and stakeholder relationships.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated leader to oversee roading services across the Ruamāhanga Roads shared service. You’ll lead a dedicated team to deliver a safe, resilient and well-managed roading network for our communities.

You’ll bring strong leadership skills, significant experience in roading, civil engineering, transport infrastructure or asset management, and a sound understanding of NZTA/Waka Kotahi processes and local government requirements. You’ll also have experience managing budgets, contracts and stakeholder relationships, along with excellent communication skills, a relevant tertiary qualification and a full New Zealand driver licence.
