Job summary

SouthRoads in Balclutha is seeking an experienced Network Inspector to join the Clutha Maintenance team. You will inspect the road network, identify maintenance needs and manage work crews and subcontractors in coordination with Council representatives.

Key responsibilities include handling RFS, planning and programming, and ensuring safety, compliance and quality across the network. The role combines fieldwork with asset management duties within RAMM.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in road maintenance and network inspection.
• Knowledge of pavement defects, edge breaks, stabilisation and resealing.
• Ability to identify and prioritise maintenance requirements.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Experience with RAMM or similar asset management systems.
• Good planning and organisational abilities.
• Understanding health, safety and environmental requirements in civil construction.
• Ability to work independently in the field.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine inspections of the road network and identify pavement, shoulder and roadside defects.
• Assess maintenance needs and recommend repairs or treatments.
• Manage Customer Service Requests (RFS) including investigation, response, programming and close-out.
• Coordinate stabilisation and pavement resealing programmes.
• Liaise with crews and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient delivery of work.
• Maintain inspection records, work histories and asset information in RAMM.
• Assist with monthly programming and work prioritisation.
• Liaise with Clutha District Council representatives on maintenance requirements.
• Monitor quality, health and safety, and environmental compliance.
• Respond to network issues and emergencies when required.
