Job summary

Higgins is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor for the Hawke's Bay Maintenance team in New Zealand. You will lead cyclic, reactive, winter and emergency maintenance, coordinating crews and subcontractors to meet contract requirements and client expectations.

You will supervise and mentor teams, apply safety leadership, and drive improvements while ensuring operational readiness and strong stakeholder relationships across the network.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience supervising and delivering maintenance operations.
• Proven leadership experience managing operational teams and subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of road maintenance activities, including cyclic, reactive, and emergency works.
• Experience with RAMM/AWM and other client-mandated systems.
• Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to identify risks, solve problems and make sound operational decisions.
• Demonstrated commitment to health & safety leadership.
• Full Class 1 driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day delivery of cyclic, reactive, winter and emergency maintenance works.
• Coordinate labour, plant, equipment and subcontractor resources to meet programme objectives.
• Monitor daily operational performance and resolve delivery issues, risks and constraints.
• Support maintenance planning and ensure operational readiness across the network.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Provide leadership during incidents and emergency response activities.
• Promote health, safety, environmental and quality culture across the team.
• Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
