Horizon Energy Group in New Zealand seeks a hybrid-role specialist focused on risk, insurance and compliance. You will report to the Legal & Risk Manager and collaborate with managers across health & safety, environment & quality, and external brokers.

The role covers maintaining risk registers, supporting risk controls, and managing insurance queries and claims. A solid governance background and strong communication are essential.

• Experience in risk management, compliance or insurance.
• Knowledge of risk software and BCM is an advantage.

About the Role

This is a varied, hands‑on role at the centre of the Group’s risk, insurance and compliance function. Reporting into the Legal & Risk Manager, you’ll work with business unit managers, the Health & Safety and Environment & Quality Managers, the Risk Committee and external insurance brokers. This gives you exposure to risk across a wide mix of regulated and commercial businesses.

Day to day, you will:

• Maintain the Group’s risk registers and support risk reporting across the regulated and non-regulated businesses
• Arrange and attend Risk Committee meetings, and track follow‑up actions through to completion
• Support the creation and review of risk controls, including policies and procedures
• Be the first point of contact for day‑to‑day insurance queries, such as certificates and incident notifications to insurers
• Manage the notification, administration and reporting of insurance claims
• Administer periodic insurance disclosures and support the annual insurance renewal
• Run the annual legislative compliance survey and other internal surveys in ComplyWith, then report on results and manage corrective actions
• Support the Group’s Business Continuity Management programme, including scheduling activities, liaising with external consultants and updating BCM documents
• Review incident reports to identify updates needed to business continuity plans

About You

• Experience in risk management, compliance, insurance or a related governance role
• A working knowledge of common insurance products and the claims and renewal process
• Experience with commercial claims or commercial dispute management
• Experience using risk and compliance software and exposure to business continuity management is an advantage
• A tertiary qualification in business, finance, law, engineering, technology or a related field is preferred but not essential
• Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing deadlines
• Clear written and verbal communication, and confident working with people at all levels
• Competent in using Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
