Job summary

New Zealand Labour Hire is seeking competent and experienced Riggers and Dogmen for a major Christchurch construction project. You will support crane operations, select the right lifting gear, and work with lift plans to move loads safely.

Applicants should have at least two years of rigging/dogging experience, a valid NZ licence, and a strong focus on safety and clear communication on busy sites.

Qualifications

• Two years' rigging/dogging experience minimum.
• Ability to read and follow lift plans precisely.
• Commitment to site safety and safe lifting practices.
• Strong communication with crane operators and site teams.
• Full NZ Driver Licence or overseas equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support crane and lifting operations across site.
• Select and use the correct rigging and lifting equipment for each lift.
• Sling, secure and control loads safely.
• Communicate with crane operators via hand signals and radio.
• Inspect rigging gear and identify damaged or unsafe equipment.
• Assist with lift plans and site procedures.
• Assess load weights, balance, lifting points and movement.
• Work closely with crane operators and wider site teams.
• Maintain high health and safety standards at all times.

New Zealand Labour Hire is looking for competent and experienced Riggers and Dogmen to join an upcoming construction project in Christchurch. You will be confident working with lift plans, rigging gear, and crane operations. You’ll need to have solid industry experience, a strong focus on safety, and the ability to communicate clearly with operators and site teams.

We're looking for quality people who know their trade, take safety seriously and can confidently operate in a busy commercial construction environment.

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting crane and lifting operations across site
• Selecting and using the correct rigging and lifting equipment for each lift
• Slinging, securing and controlling loads safely
• Communicating clearly with crane operators via recognised hand and radio signals
• Inspecting rigging gear and identifying damaged or unsafe equipment
• Working from and assisting with lift plans
• Assessing load weights, balance, lifting points and load movement
• Working closely with crane operators and wider site teams
• Maintaining a high standard of health & safety at all times

What we're looking for:

• US 30072 and 3789, or recognised equivalent qualifications
• At least 2 years' relevant rigging/dogging experience
• Good knowledge of cranes, lifting equipment and safe lifting practices
• Confidence reading and working from lift plans
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Proven reliability and a professional approach to site work
• Full NZ Driver Licence or recognised overseas equivalent
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
