Are you a compassionate and motivated leader with a passion for Retail and helping those in need?

The Society of St Vincent de Paul is seeking an experienced and values-driven Retail Stores Manager to oversee the daily operations, staff, and volunteer teams across our network of Christchurch retail stores. Based primarily at our Papanui branch, this full-time role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your community through high-quality retail service and compassionate leadership.

What You'll Do

As Retail Stores Manager, you will:

Lead, coach and support Retail team and volunteers across multiple locations

Ensure alignment with the Society’s values in all aspects of store operations

Drive sales, meet budget targets and execute effective marketing and event management

Maintain high standards of customer service and visual merchandising

Manage stock control, pricing, inventory, and donor relationships

Ensure compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, policies and procedures, risk management and HR

Conduct staff performance appraisals, onboarding and training

Collaborate with internal stakeholders and report regularly on our Retail performance

What We’re Looking For

We’re after someone who is not just an excellent retail operator, but also a person who leads with compassion, professionalism, and integrity. You will bring:

-Proven experience in multi-site retail or operations management

-Strong people leadership, mentoring and volunteer coordination skills

-Knowledge of health & safety, safeguarding, and retail compliance

-Creative merchandising and a flair for presentation

-Business acumen and budgeting/financial reporting capabilities

-A high level of initiative, organisation and self-motivation

-A broad knowledge of second hand goods, collectables, clothing and their value

-Understanding of the Society’s mission and engage with its purpose

A current full driver's licence is desirable.
