Job summary

The People Place is seeking an experienced in-house Reviewer to apply precise legal judgment under the ACC Act 2001. You will handle case conferences and hearings, assess complex evidence, and draft concise decisions with professional integrity.

You’ll work with an experienced team, build specialist expertise, and have access to ongoing training and development in dispute resolution within a supportive, high-trust environment. Auckland office, NZ work rights required.

Qualifications

  • LLB and 5+ years’ PQE (we’ll also consider strong candidates with less direct experience as training is provided).
  • Litigation/hearings, tribunal or quasi-judicial decision-making experience.
  • Medico-legal exposure an advantage.
  • Sharp analysis and sound judgement: you’re confident weighing evidence and making the call.
  • Concise legal writing with strong attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure, clear communicator, and able to relate to people from all walks of life.
  • Tech capable (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Write clear, concise, and timely decisions that stand up to scrutiny.
  • Peer review draft decisions to lift accuracy and clarity across the team.
  • Handle sensitive information with professionalism; record accurate minutes on all matters.
  • Build strong working relationships with Case Managers and the ICRA Team.
  • Optional stretch: Get involved in conciliations, facilitations, mediations.
