Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children seeks an experienced Team Leader Operations to head a Residential Youth Worker team, ensuring safety and positive outcomes for rangatahi. The role includes weekend rosters (Fridays to Sundays, 1:00pm–9:00pm about every three weeks) and strong collaboration with whānau and iwi.

You will lead by example, drive policy implementation, and support staff development within a vibrant, wellbeing‑focused workplace.

Qualifications

• Experience working with at-risk children or youth preferred.
• Ability to lead and support staff and maintain safety and wellbeing of residents.
• Commitment to Tiriti o Waitangi and incorporation of Tikanga Māori in practice.
• A full, clean NZ driver’s licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Residential Youth Workers and ensure safety and wellbeing of residents.
• Foster relationships with Iwi, whānau, community groups and key agencies; implement policies and safe working practices.
