Job summary

Te Roopu Taurima in Kaikohe is seeking a full-time Kaiawhina to support tāngata with intellectual disabilities and/or mental health needs in a 24-hour residential service. You will work rostered shifts in a calm, tangata-focused team, helping people live as independently as possible.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential, along with computer literacy and documentation skills. A Level 2 certificate is required, with Level 3/4 qualification advantageous, and pre-employment checks are

Qualifications

• Experience supporting tāngata with intellectual disabilities and/or mental health needs.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay calm in challenging situations and make sound decisions.
• Good computer literacy and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support tāngata with daily living, personal care, activities and appointments.
• Contribute to a safe, welcoming and consistent home and community environment.
• Document care and progress and support individual goals.
