Head Medical is seeking post-foundation doctors for an exciting opportunity in Cardiology based in the vibrant and growing city of Hamilton. • Salary: $106,672 – $121,920 NZD (depending on experience)
• 12-month contract, commencing November 2025

The Role

The hospital in Hamilton is one of New Zealand’s largest tertiary teaching centres, with over 600 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres. It provides secondary services to a local population of around 200,000 and tertiary services to a wider region of 700,000. It is also the Midland regional referral centre for specialties including trauma surgery, oncology, neurology, cardiothoracic surgery, and mental health.

This position is within the Cardiology Department, which sees around 6,000 patients annually, performing approximately 4,000 angiograms, 1,000 angioplasties, and over 400 electrophysiological procedures. The team includes nine Cardiologists and an equal number of SMOs, working across four modern Cath Labs.

You’ll gain exposure across all major subspecialties - acute cardiology, interventional procedures, structural cardiology, electrophysiology, and advanced imaging - making this an ideal opportunity for a motivated junior doctor looking to deepen their experience in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
